This exquisite mid-century 14 karat yellow and white gold bridal set features a beautifully detailed engagement ring paired with its original matching wedding band. Dating to the late 1940s or 1950s, the set showcases romantic retro-era styling with elegant scrollwork shoulders, delicate milgrain detailing, and classic illusion-top diamond settings designed to maximize sparkle.
The engagement ring is illusion-set to the center with one round brilliant-cut natural diamond measuring approximately 3.2 millimeters in diameter and weighing an estimated 0.138 carats, flanked by two additional round-cut diamonds each measuring approximately 1.25 millimeters in diameter and weighing an estimated 0.01 carats each. The matching wedding band is set with three additional round-cut diamonds, each measuring approximately 1.25 millimeters in diameter and weighing an estimated 0.01 carats each, for a total estimated diamond weight of 0.188 carats for the set. The diamonds are estimated at J color and SI3 clarity (no dark carbon inclusions, only a white crystalline inclusion visible in the center stone under magnification). The diamond settings are crafted in rhodium-plated white gold to enhance the brilliance and apparent size of the stones, a popular feature in fine mid-century jewelry.
A particularly unusual feature is the wedding band’s retractable locking hook, which attaches securely to the engagement ring to help keep the set aligned when worn together. We have never encountered another example quite like it.
When worn together, the rings measure approximately 11.74 millimeters (just over 7/16 inch) wide along the finger and taper to approximately 3.7 millimeters (just under 5/32 inch) at the shanks. The set weighs approximately 4.26 grams. The engagement ring is a size 5 1/4, and the wedding band is a size 5. Both may be resized by your local jeweler.
The rings are stamped 14K and signed FLATURE LOCK. Expected light scratches to the gold can be polished out; otherwise, good estate condition.

First Class mail generally takes 3-5 business days in the U.S. Priority Mail takes 1-3 days in the U.S. However, please note that it took the US Postal Service 21 days to deliver one First Class package to California. Shipping to other countries can take 2-6 weeks via First Class International. If you need something for a specific date, consider using Priority Mail or Priority Mail Express.
Generally, no. I'm a one-woman operation and I don't have any live models available. I take great effort to photograph items on measuring devices such as ring mandrels, rulers in millimeters and inches, and scales. I also offer returns, so that if your item is not exactly what you want, you are welcome to return it for a refund.
