Vintage 14K Gold Blue Topaz Cocktail Ring Mid Century Brutalist Statement Ring

$1,215.54

Surprise your favorite December birthday girl (or treat yourself) with this dramatic vintage cocktail ring!

This exquisite 14 karat solid yellow gold ring captures the bold glamour of the late 1960s to 1970s with its sculptural openwork basket-weave design and oversized emerald-cut gemstone. The airy lattice-style mounting gives the ring an architectural Mid Century look while allowing light to flow beautifully through the stone.

The ring is prong-set to the center with a genuine emerald-cut blue topaz measuring 14.01 millimeters long by 9.96 millimeters wide and weighing an estimated 7 carats. The vivid blue gemstone is elevated in a striking high-profile woven gallery setting that rises 10.08 millimeters (just over 3/8 inch) above the finger for exceptional presence and sparkle.

This substantial statement ring measures 15.92 millimeters (just over 5/8 inch) wide at the top (along the finger) and tapers gracefully to 2.95 millimeters (just under 1/8 inch) wide at the back of the shank. The tapered flared shank flows elegantly into the dramatic openwork shoulders, giving the ring a luxurious sculptural silhouette. The ring is a size 9 3/4 and can be re-sized to fit by your local jeweler. It weighs 5.86 grams.

This ring is unmarked as to gold assay, but acid tested positive as 14 karat gold and does not react to a magnet. Good estate condition from the estate of Irene H. Facha.

Blue topaz is both the December birthstone and the state gemstone of Texas. Naturally occurring blue topaz is extremely rare; most blue topaz seen in fine jewelry today begins as colorless or pale topaz that is permanently enhanced through irradiation and heat treatment to achieve its vibrant blue color.

We are listing several pieces of estate jewelry, along with other items fresh from fine North Carolina estates.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the item I receive look exactly like the photographs in the listing?

You will receive exactly the item pictured, minus any display props, measuring tools (such as rulers and scales), measurement comparison items (such as coins), and anything explicitly excluded in the text. Photos are likely not actual size; please see item description for dimensions. If there is a defect not discernible in the pictures, it will be included in the text. If there is a concern or doubt, please ask prior to purchase. Remember that color is a very tricky thing to transmit electronically. There are many variables, including lighting, background, physical filters, digital filters, the capabilities of the monitor on which the image is displayed, and the color perception of the viewer.

Where do you find your items?

We purchase our items primarily at auctions and estate sales.

How do you know that your items are authentic?

We purchase from reputable auction houses and dealers, and we test all gems and precious metals. While we are not experts, we try to list each item in as much detail as possible. We cannot describe every tiny nuance; therefore, please use the zoom feature and consider each picture carefully.

Shipping to other countries can take 2-6 weeks via First Class International. If you need something for a specific date, consider using Priority Mail or Priority Mail Express.

Can you send me a photo of an item on a live model?

Generally, no. I'm a one-woman operation and I don't have any live models available. I take great effort to photograph items on measuring devices such as ring mandrels, rulers in millimeters and inches, and scales. I also offer returns, so that if your item is not exactly what you want, you are welcome to return it for a refund.

Do you offer layaway?

I offer layaway for items over $300. You may make up to 3 monthly payments for a handling fee of $5. A 10% cancellation fee will be charged if you cancel the order. No discounts apply.
